ENTERPRISE Car Rental Services at Dublin Airport

Dublin Airport (DUB) is located approximately 10 km north of Dublin city, and due to it's passenger numbers which exceed 18 million a year, it is known as the largest airport on the island of Ireland. The airport has two terminal buildings and both are well equipped with facilities to meet the needs of their passengers. Passengers also have a wide choice of airline carriers and destinations from Dublin Airport. Car rental at this location is in high demand, and one of the companies available is Enterprise at Dublin Airport. Enterprise has been providing car hire services for many years, and offers their customers reasonable rental rates, friendly assistance and high quality vehicles.

Of the two terminals at Dublin Airport, Terminal 2 is the newer building, having been opened for operation in 2010. The long-haul flights of various airline companies, and the flights by Aer Lingus, are handled from this terminal building. It is 75,000 square meters in size, and is capable of serving up to fifteen million passengers per year. Although some of the Dublin Airport car hire companies have rental desks in both terminals, Enterprise is found in Terminal 1, where they have a pre-booked car hire desk. Terminal 1 is the older building of the airport, established in 1972, and handles mainly short-haul flights by various airline companies. The car rental desks of Enterprise, and other companies, are found in the arrivals hall, and are easily noticed once passengers have emerged from the customs area. The business hours of Enterprise at Dublin Airport are from 06:00 to 21:00, seven days a week.

At Dublin Airport, passengers 23 or 24 years of age will only be able to hire an Economy vehicle from Enterprise, such as the Ford Fiesta, and may be liable to pay young drivers insurance for the vehicle. A young driver fee is a small amount charged for each day of car hire, and for each underage driver listed on the rental agreement, up until a maximum of ten rental days or a maximum amount. The quote for an Economy vehicle will include fees for a Road Fund License and VAT, but not collision damage waiver insurance, which will need to be taken from Enterprise should the customer not have any coverage from their credit card provider. Coverage which has not been supplied by Enterprise will need to be verified by the customer upon collection of the vehicle.

A person 25 years of age or older arriving at Dublin Airport can hire various cars from Enterprise, and will most likely not be subjected to additional fees for young drivers insurance. However, in Ireland, the renter is often required to prove that they have held a valid driving license for a certain number of years prior to the rental date. Keep in mind that if you are from a foreign country an International Driving Permit may be required by the Dublin Airport car rental companies, or by law in Ireland. The document will serve as a translation of your local license, and should accompany your usual license at all times. It cannot be used on its own as a driving permit. The vehicles which could be available to renters of this age include the Ford Fiesta from the Economy category, the Opel Astra in the Small Compact class, the Opel Insignia 1.6 in the Intermediate car group or the Ford Galaxy as a Full-size MPV vehicle. The Ford Galaxy can seat up to seven passengers, and comes with air conditioning, AM/FM stereo and power steering.

Alternative vehicles which may be available from Enterprise at the time of your rental include the Ford Ka, Ford Mondeo 1.6, Opel Zafira, Opel Combo, Opel Vivaro, Ford Transit Van, Nissan X-Trail, Honda CR-V, Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota Land Cruiser, Audi A4 and the BMW 5-Series. Some of the vehicles mentioned are Premium vehicles ideal for business travelers in need of something more elegant, and they come with an automatic transmission. A car with an automatic transmission is also used when Enterprise hand controls for disabled drivers are requested. This device operates the brake and accelerator pedals of the vehicle, and from Dublin Airport, hand controls are usually hired with no charges. They will, however, require an advanced reservation.

Additional items of equipment usually possible to hire from car hire companies include child seats, satellite navigation systems and luggage racks. A car seat for your littler members of the family is very important, as any child four years of age or younger is required by law in Ireland to have an adequate restraint system. Certainly most parents also agree that with a child seat is also the safest way to travel. When driving in Ireland, ensure that everyone is wearing a seat-belt at all times, even in the rear of the vehicle if seat-belts are supplied. For anyone who is unfamiliar with the road networks of Ireland, and the city of Dublin, a satellite navigation system is of a huge benefit. The units hired are of a high quality, and offer turn-by-turn directions on colour, touch screens.

Unless you have indicated an Enterprise one way hire upon reservation, return your vehicle to Dublin Airport with either a full tank of fuel or an "empty as possible" fuel tank. If you have purchased fuel at the beginning of the rental period, the car should be returned with as little fuel as possible, as no refunds are given for unused petrol or diesel. If you are returning the vehicle to a rental location other than Dublin Airport, one way hire service charges may be applicable. Always find out from Enterprise to where the vehicle may be driven. In most cases, cars hired in Ireland can freely cross from the Republic to Northern Ireland and visa versa, but may not leave the island.

Enterprise Dublin Airport can provide all further information required regarding their car hire services.
